Lawn Care & Renovation

Practical lawn renovation for tired, thin, compacted, patchy or stressed grass where recovery is more sensible than immediate replacement.

We assess the lawn, soil, compaction, thatch, shade, drainage, wear and likely cause of decline before recommending scarifying, aeration, overseeding, feeding, top-dressing or another route.

What we can help with

Lawn Care & Renovation, scoped properly.

The exact work is confirmed in writing before we begin. These are the main areas this service can include, subject to the property, condition, access and quotation.

Scarifying

Mechanical removal of excessive thatch and surface debris where the lawn and timing are suitable.

Aeration

Relieving compaction and improving movement of air and water into the root zone where appropriate.

Overseeding

Introducing suitable grass seed into prepared areas to improve density and recovery.

Feeding

Season-appropriate fertiliser or treatment where the lawn condition and wider programme support it.

Top-dressing

Targeted top-dressing to support seed-to-soil contact, minor surface improvement and recovery.

Patch & pet damage

Assessment of worn or damaged areas, including repeated pet damage, traffic and localised stress.

Assessment before action

A tired lawn is a symptom. The useful question is why it became tired.

Compaction, shade, drainage, poor soil, thatch, mowing height, drought, heavy use, pets and nutrition can all affect the result. Renovation works best when the main limiting factors are understood rather than simply throwing seed at bare patches.

Thatch & compaction

Too much thatch or dense soil can restrict water, air and root development.

Shade & use

Low light, children, pets and regular traffic can change which grass mix and expectations are realistic.

Drainage & soil

Persistent waterlogging or poor ground can need more than surface treatment.

Timing & recovery

Seed and recovery depend on soil temperature, moisture and aftercare; timing matters.

How we work

Clear from the first enquiry to the final handover.

Good property care is easier when both sides know what happens next. We keep the route practical and explain any change before it becomes a surprise.

01

Assess the lawn

Review grass cover, thatch, compaction, soil, shade, drainage, wear and the outcome you want.

02

Choose the renovation level

Agree which operations are proportionate: scarifying, aeration, overseeding, feed, top-dressing or local repair.

03

Carry out the work

Complete the agreed operations in the right sequence for the lawn and conditions.

04

Support establishment

Explain watering, mowing, traffic restrictions and the realistic recovery period after renovation.

Domestic & commercial

Lawn care for homes, communal grounds and managed sites.

Renovation can be used on domestic lawns as well as selected communal or commercial grass areas where presentation, wear and recovery need a more targeted approach than routine mowing alone.

One-off renovation

Scarifying, aeration, overseeding, feeding and top-dressing can be combined in a proportionate renovation plan.

Seasonal follow-up

Ongoing lawn-care support can be discussed where the lawn would benefit from a programme rather than a single visit.

Use & access

Pets, children, communal use, machinery access and watering capability are considered before work starts.

Honest diagnosis

If drainage, shade, soil failure or contamination is the main problem, we will not pretend seed alone will solve it.

How pricing works

The actual job determines the quotation.

We do not force complex property-care work into a misleading universal price. Size matters, but so do condition, access, materials, waste, frequency and the method required.

Lawn size & condition

Area, grass cover, thatch, compaction and extent of damage.

Operations & materials

Scarifying, aeration, seed, feed, top-dressing and number of passes/visits.

Access & aftercare

Machine access, water availability, recovery window and customer ability to follow aftercare.

Common questions

Lawn Care & Renovation FAQs.

These answers cover the questions we hear most often. Your written quotation remains the definitive scope for your individual property or site.

When is lawn renovation better than new turf?

Where enough viable grass remains and the soil and levels are fundamentally sound, renovation can be more proportionate. A badly failed or contaminated lawn may be better suited to returfing.

Can you improve pet-damaged lawns?

Often, yes, but the cause needs to be managed. Repeated urine damage, digging, heavy traffic or contamination can continue to affect new growth if nothing else changes.

When is the best time to renovate a lawn?

Renovation is most effective when soil temperatures and moisture support germination and recovery. The practical window depends on the work required and current weather.

Will the lawn look better immediately?

Some operations can initially make the lawn look more open or disturbed. Renovation is a recovery process, so density and appearance improve over time with suitable moisture, mowing and aftercare.

Can you fix drainage through lawn renovation?

Minor surface and soil improvements may help some lawns, but persistent waterlogging can require drainage or more substantial ground works before renovation is sensible.

Do you offer ongoing lawn-care support?

Yes, where practical. Some lawns benefit from a seasonal programme rather than a single renovation visit, and we can discuss the sensible next steps after assessment.
